This project involved the removal of approx. 2 miles of asbestos containing bituminous coating from four 10 to 16 inch diameter fuel lines at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Cheatham Annex. The fuel lines were on the CAX Fuel Pier over the York River. Special provisions were needed to ensure that none of the material contaminated the York River. The site was visited by the EPA, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry while in progress to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
