This was an “environmentally-friendly” pilot project involving the Fort Monroe Department of Public Works, Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. and AIM Services, Inc.  AIM was contracted to remove asbestos containing materials from throughout seven barracks (Buildings T-058, T-181, T-182, T-194, T-195, T-196, T-247). AIM then deconstructed the barracks. Approximately 80% of all building materials were salvage or recycled. Only 20% of the building was sent to a landfill.
